Leadership Seminole

In today’s economic climate, we are all looking to maximize our investment dollar. Leadership Seminole provides great exposure for your business and a positive public relations tool solidifying your position in community…all while experiencing Seminole County in 3-D!

Leadership Seminole provides the ideal opportunity to instantly connect and engage participants to the community whether you have been here for one year or your entire life. No matter what peaks your passion: the issues, hands-on learning, access to leaders, building lifelong business and community relationships, the sense of community or the people.

Leadership Seminole is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 public service organization directed by a voluntary Board. In the fall of 1992, leaders from area businesses, county chambers of commerce and Seminole Community College combined their talents into a task force to develop the program. This planning and organizational task force identified major program sponsors and chamber executives who have defined the program curriculum for Leadership Seminole. An intensive, hands-on, interactive ten-month program, Leadership Seminole, is modeled in the tradition of 500 community leadership development programs nationwide.

The program has proudly graduated over 700 community leaders. With its growth, the need for regional exposure within the business community has become essential for its development. As a result, in July 1999, Leadership Seminole formed a partnership with the Greater Seminole County Chamber of Commerce, now known as the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, other chambers of commerce, Casselberry, Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional and Sanford/Seminole County, serve as partners with Leadership Seminole. As the visionary leaders and catalysts for county and regional economic growth and development, the chambers help serve as the foundation for the vision of Leadership Seminole… committed to the development of business and community leaders.

Leadership Seminole recently strengthened its mission “to instill in its graduates an understanding of community trusteeship” by merging with Seminole Vision, Inc. and forming Envision Seminole whose purpose is the identification, creation and delivery of community-wide initiatives that will improve the quality of life in Seminole County. Envision Seminole is the umbrella organization focusing on community improvement Leadership Seminole continues to retain its strong brand focusing on leadership development.

OUR VISION

To be the community center for developing and establishing Seminole County leaders.

OUR MISSION

To identify existing and potential community leaders, focus them on the issues that face Seminole County and its position in the region, and instill in them an understanding of community trusteeship.

IN SUPPORT OF THIS WE COMMIT TO...

Create a program that brings present and future community leaders together for the sharing of knowledge that will inspire them to step forward and make a difference in our community.

Strengthen the professional community by offering a curriculum that challenges the minds of its participants toward a shared goal of community trusteeship.

Develop the basic element of strong leadership in participants as they become the force of change within our community by empowering others.

OUR PROGRAM

Now offering two classes each year (one beginning in February and the second beginning in August), Leadership Seminole begins with a two-day orientation with monthly one-day sessions focusing on timely issues within the following areas: government, arts, culture, infrastructure, public safety, human services, healthcare, education, economic development, environmental preservation, simulated society (SIMSOC), and law and justice. Participation is highly interactive and experiential, with opportunities for networking and team-building throughout. Class members not only have access to fellow leaders within their class, they also have access to leaders serving as facilitators and subject experts during the sessions. This is an opportunity for participants to develop lifelong relationships and build vast background knowledge on important issues that impact them on a daily basis for the betterment of themselves, their company, and their community.
